American English Language Program
The AELP Program at NKU provides international students a small, welcoming environment to improve their English language skills. Our intensive and semi-intensive programs prepare students who wish to study at NKU or other institutions, or who wish to simply build the skills and confidence necessary to thrive in an English language environment. Our classes are taught on NKU’s main campus.

WE OFFER:

• Over 20 hours of intensive instruction per week

Student Life
Your NKU experience doesn’t end outside of the classroom, and with over 200+ student organizations, a brand new state-of-the-art recreation center, 16 dining locations, and six residence halls to choose from, we have everything you need to feel right at home.

Interested in living on-campus? Our residence halls have been recognized as some of the most affordable in the region, and offer the option of traditional double rooms, single rooms, and suites. In addition, our 11 Living Learning Communities can connect you with new friends who share your same interests.

Completed in 2015, there is something for everyone at our brand-new Student Recreation Center. Get a quick workout on the track or in the weight room, take a swim in the pool, climb the rock wall, join a group fitness class, or take up an intramural sport – the possibilities are endless.
Admissions
HOW TO APPLY
• Complete the online international application here
• Pay the $40 Application Fee
• Send any secondary school records
• Submit one (1) standardized test score:
- TOEFL (school code: 1574)
- IELTS
- SAT (school code: 1574)
- ACT (school code: 1566)

CONDITIONAL ADMISSION
International students who meet NKU’s academic requirements but do not fulfill NKU’s English proficiency requirements may be offered conditional admission. Conditionally admitted students are enrolled into the AELP program to complete English language requirements before matriculating to the university.
